Local Government & Economic Development

Highlighting why you are an ideal location for economic prosperity.

The pandemic has changed the way that we work, whether this is a medium term adjustment that will be corrected or it is a new way of working that is here to stay, is yet to be seen. One thing for sure is that businesses will still need a base, and showcasing your town, city or region as a place that helps create the conditions for them to flourish is essential, and video content is the perfect vehicle to do that in a dynamic way.

The local business community is most effective when it sits within an authority that creates the right conditions for businesses to thrive.  Engaging with the private sector, being supportive and being a constructive partner creates wealth and prosperity, which attracts new companies, start-ups, supply chains and industries, which creates more wealth and prosperity for residents to enjoy.  We are uniquely positioned to help local government communicate all the positive reasons for firms to set up, relocate or stay in the area – why?  Because we understand local government and the business community and have tremendous expertise and experience in this sector.

Experience Guildford

Experience Guildford wanted a video that explained the benefits of a BID, highlighting key initiatives that they deliver. They wanted this to act as an educational and marketing tool, for both enticing new member businesses and informing the general public about their commitment to the town.

What content can we create:

  • Inward Investment Promo – we can work with you to create content that highlights the positive reasons why organisations or supply chains would want to be relocate to your town or city, or for existing companies, remind them why it is such a great base.  We work with you to craft a message aimed at organisations of all sizes which make up a vibrant and healthy business community, that doesn’t just focus on buildings and infrastructure but builds a narrative around how everything in your jurisdiction fuses together to create the perfect conditions for businesses to thrive.  These videos can also be adapted to feature purely on screen text and utilised at global expo’s and conferences, bringing any stand to life and delivering impactful visuals to those passing by. View Example
  • Local Employment Support – working with the local authority and key stakeholders, content can be created to help make employees aware of the opportunities available through local employers, explain which are the growth industries and feature case studies of successful local people. View Example
  • BID Promo – as Business Improvement Districts rely on levy payers voting to retain the BID every five years, it can be useful to highlight the impact the funding has made.  The most effective way to do this is to supplement any written material with engaging video content combined with graphics and statistics to reinforce understanding of the successes of the BID.  Using a summary video can cut through to those harder to reach so they truly understand the positive outcomes the BID helps foster. View Example
  • Business & Education Partnerships – a key challenge for many local education authorities is how to help young people attain meaningful and stable employment when they leave formal education, and a big area that could benefit from innovation is that of work related learning.  Engaging and age appropriate video content to open young people’s eyes to the vast array of opportunities locally can help to reduce the ‘brain drain’ from areas, create a steady flow of talent to employers who need to fill vacancies and improve the economic and social prosperity of an area.  Whether this is a standalone production provided to schools or part of a local platform loaded with animations, promo videos and case studies supported by local employers, FE and HE, it can be a very  powerful way to reach a cohort of students that are used to consuming information via rich media. View Example
  • Local Planning – where local government is working with stakeholders to create a long term strategic plan for the area, are consulting with residents on the local plan or have completed the consultation process, creating a suite of short videos to explain aspects of this can be far more effective than requiring residents to read lengthy documents.  Animated video works even better for these types of videos, allowing for graphics to highlight key areas such as housing, environment, parks, schools and transport in a more focussed and objective way.
  • Tourism Support – for areas that have been hit hardest by the pandemic, great content highlighting why it is a destination location can be extremely useful when pushed out proactively via YouTube marketing, used on stands at tourism expo’s and deployed across all websites and social media channels. “We have worked with the squaredaisy team on several projects. They have always been a real joy to work with. In every case they have not only understood the brief but also the wider context for the work. As a result, they have added value and improved our initial concept. Their understanding of our sector is enormously helpful. The projects have then been delivered on time and on budget to an impeccable standard. The project work has involved them working with some of our partner organisations and they have represented us in the most professional manner. We look forward to working with them for many years to come.”  Simon Bland, Head of Economic Prosperity, Reigate and Banstead Borough Council
